Refiner's Fire

 

The Refiner's Fire is a group of 50+ Seniors that come together at least once a month to have fellowship, fun and food.  We meet in the homes and although some business is handled, it is mostly a time for getting acquainted and spending time together. 

  We are an extension of the Chelsea Church of The Nazarene and are considered an outreach ministry. 

  The Refiner's Fire uses Zechariah 13:9; This third I will bring into the fire, I will refine them like silver and test them like gold.  They will call on my name and I will answer them; I will say, "They are my people," and they will say, "The Lord is our God." and Psalm 12:6;  And the words of the Lord are flawless, Like silver refined in a furnace of clay, purified seven times. (NIV) 

  In ancient times, silver and gold were extracted from raw ore by heating  the ore in a special furnace.  The heating process was used to separate the silver and gold from the impurities; the dross (base metals), which can contain copper, iron, tin, bronze, and lead. 

  For our purposes, we are equating the dross, the copper, iron, tin, bronze, and lead, with our younger years.  The years we spent being refined by living life as God molded us into the people we are now. 

  And please remember, we are a work in progress; we may be "50+" but God isn't finished with us yet.  We have a lot left to live, and a lot left to give. 

  This group is meant for married and single 50+ persons as well.
