How are you using your body today?

Maybe it seems like a funny question, but think about it.

You are currently using your eyes to read this message.  What else will you put in front of them?  They are a lamp to your inner life.

You used your hands to click the window in order to read this e-mail.  What other we sites will your hands take you to today?  (I think of the song I learned in Sunday School as a child:  Oh be careful little hands what you do...)

You may use your ears to listen to conversations or music.  Will they be sounds and thoughts that uplift, build up, encourage?  Or will they be sounds that are self-centered and destructive?

Your mind may be mulling over these words and thoughts right now.  Where else will you let your mind settle on today?  Upon whatever is good, lovely, right, true?  Or things that are small, poisonous, or worthless?

Paul writes in the Letter to the Church in Rome, "Just as you used to offer the parts of your body in slavery to impurity and to ever-increasing wickedness, so now offer them in slavery to righteousness leading to holiness."  (Romans 6:19b)

Whatever you give your mind, heart, and body over to today, that is your master.

Will your master be gossip or grace-filled words?  Will your master be lust or Godly love?  Will your master be anger or forgiveness?

Choose wisely!

Grace & peace
